Health Benefits of Love

Love is Literally Good for Your Heart
Researchers at Yale University found that the feeling of love actually promotes a healthy heart. They found that those in love or who felt loved had less blockage in coronary arteries. Another study from Case Western Reserve University showed that men who were in loving relationships had lower rates of angina, and the University of Pittsburgh says women in good marriages have a lower risk of heart disease.

Love Reduces Cancer Risk
Statistics show that cancer rates are lower in married couples. In particular, a healthy sex life may help reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men. Australian research has shown that frequent ejaculation (five or more times a week) in men in their 20s reduced the rate of developing prostate cancer. A study from the University of Iowa also found that women who had more loving connections in their lives had more white blood cells and were better equipped to fight ovarian cancer.

Sex Relieves Stress
Good sex is a great stress reliever. Not only is it a fun activity that gets your mind off of your troubles, but it has been shown to lower blood pressure and improve responses to stressors. A simple hug, which fosters a feeling of love and compassion, can also help quell a stressful situation.

Sex Makes You Sleep Better
Ever wonder why you seem to drift asleep much quicker after a steamy night with your honey?  Not only is sex a tiring workout, but it releases the perfect combination of hormones and endorphins to help you relax.

Love and Live
Being in love can increase life expectancy. Studies show that there are lower mortality rates within married couples. This might be attributed to lower stress levels and the fact that, when people get married, they often give up the riskier behavior they participated in when they were single.

Love Kills Pain
Intimacy can help dull your pains. During a kiss, natural anesthetics are released in your saliva, helping to relieve pain. A good romp in the hay can also help soothe aches, as oxytocin (called the "love hormone") levels increase during intercourse.

Love and Sex Improve Immunity
It has been shown that loneliness and isolation contribute to a weaker immune system. Finding love and having close relationships improves immunity and helps you heal faster. In addition, a healthy and
active sex life improves physical health and has been shown to increase antibodies in your system, helping you fight illness and infection.

Love Boosts Self-Esteem
Having a close, intimate relationship with someone (and a good sex life) does wonders for your self-confidence and self-esteem. When you know you are loved deeply by someone, it increases your self-worth and makes you feel good about yourself. A great connection formed through sex can skyrocket your self-esteem and put a little spring in your

Sex Can Regulate Your Period
Believe it or not, having sex can help you stay more regular. Research suggests that women who have more frequent sex (at least once a week) have higher levels of estrogen, which can help to normalize your period schedule.

Forgiveness and Love
There is evidence that associates forgiveness with emotional, physical and mental well being. Forgiveness in your relationships can increase self-esteem, positivity and hopefulness, as well as reduce anxiety and depression.
